The CRC Program is a Commonwealth Government initiative which aims to 'change the research culture' of Australia. Government funds are matched by industry support in a collaborative program that strengthens links between industry, research organisations and educational institutions. |
"The Cooperative Research Centres, generally known as CRCs, bring together researchers from universities, CSIRO and other government laboratories, and private industry or public sector agencies, in long-term collaborative arrangements which support research and development and education activities that achieve real outcomes of national economic and social significance." |

There are currently over 50 CRCs in Australia, covering medical science & technology, manufacturing technology, mining & energy, agricultural and rural-based manufacturing, environment & tourism, and information & communications technology. |
